Chris's Mom "Chris's party was over the top. So much better than I could have possibly wished for. So many wonderful people showed up and opened their hearts to us. I want to thank everyone involved, who volunteered with all my heart. And Lisa Geng, who is a Tasmanian ANGEL on wheels. You ROCK girl. Cherab Foundation is a very special organization. They made this a life-changing event for Chris and our family. The community came together and gave Chris the birthday of the lifetime.."~Mary Ramirez |

Community Anti-Bullying Birthday Event It’s not just Chris, who is diagnosed with Autism, and his family who benefitted from his wish for caring and friendship, locals and people from as far north as Daytona, and as far west as Tampa came both in support of Chris or because they too find themselves in a similar situation, alienated or bullied by folks in their communities. Cherab Foundation's crowdFunnit was founded with the intent of bringing an awareness and an end to alienation and bullying in a proactive way,” said crowdFunnit founder Lisa Geng, “The acceptance, compassion, and friendships that happened for Chris and his family and those who have come to support or be supported have been amazing.” |
The Cherab Foundation Goal It's through the generosity of the community we are able to throw our proactive anti-bullying events. We appreciate your support! Volunteer-based since 2000, the Cherab Foundation is a 501©3 nonprofit for children with neurological or genetic impairments that affect communication with a focus on Autism and Apraxia. With your help, we can reach our goal to host at least one party every single month across all 50 States! We are also launching a school-based program right here in South Florida, with a goal to reach every district in the country. This new program will expand upon the tools we’ve developed to encourage acceptance and compassion within their daily school environment where we feel the impact will be greatest. CrowdFunnit, a project of the 501©3 Cherab Foundation, hosts HUGE Community Birthday Parties for friendless kids across the country. Featured in local and national news, we proactively fight bullying by bringing together like-minded people, raising awareness about differences and fostering acceptance and compassion. Volunteer-based since 2000, the Cherab Foundation is focused on helping children with neurological and genetic communication impairments such as autism and apraxia. |

Before The Event From WPBF News "Mary Ramirez explained why her son Chris often felt anxious and depressed at school. "He was being pushed aside to the point where he would sit by himself at lunch, and they would throw food at him." By his mother's account, Chris has been bullied by his peers so much that he comes home, isolates himself in his room and cries. Chris explained the difficulty of being alone among his peers. "Kids always have friends and all, and that just makes me sad because I had like no friends, and I'm like, 'man I wish one day I had a friend." The bullseye Chris wears is that of a teenager with autism. A soon-to-be fourteen-year-old who's never had a real birthday party, despite his family's best efforts. Mary said, "we've had wonderful birthday parties set up for him with water slides and all the things a kid would love to have and share with his friends, and nobody showed. Not a single person showed." That might be about to change. The non-profit Cherab Foundation, through its nationwide anti-bullying campaign called Crowd Funnit, is throwing a community birthday for Chris. The public is invited to join him September 30th at SuperPlay in Port St. Lucie. For fun, games, and growth. "Bowling, Laser tag, mini-golf, arcade." Chris lists the fun activities that will await partygoers. Cherab Foundation President Lisa Geng has seen how a simple birthday celebration can be a breakthrough moment."By putting a spotlight on that child it's helping to reduce the bullying and alienation for that child and foster acceptance. In every situation their lives have been turned around after we've had an event for them, so it seems like it's just a birthday party, but it's so much more." Chris is hoping September 30th will be his breakthrough. "This is the turning point. This is where everything comes back to me and where I can finally put the hammer to the mask and show my real self." It is important that you RSVP if you are attending the event.
